The CICPV is the only facility in the world that borders a Natural Protected Area and joins the efforts for its conservation.
The Natural Protected Area "Estero del Salado" is a mangrove ecosystem immersed in the urban area of Puerto Vallarta that has 169 hectares protected by the Government of the State of Jalisco since July 2000.
The estuary is a body of fresh water that flows into the sea and is the main generator of nutrients that are food for the marine flora and fauna of Banderas Bay, which is visited by exotic species such as the Humpback Whale, the Olive Ridley Turtle, the Dolphin, among others. It also functions as a regulator of the temperature of Puerto Vallarta and is one of the most important lungs of the Bay.
